Reduction target: Through the SME Climate Hub, we recommend businesses commit to cutting their Scope 1&2 greenhouse gas emissions by at least 50% in 5 years.
Addressing Scope 3: You should aim to reduce material Scope 3 emissions in a maximum of 10 years. We also recommend measuring your scope 3 emissions in the near term.
Baseline year: Emissions reductions should be calculated from a base year of no earlier than 5 years from the point of making the commitment (e.g. If you make the commitment in 2026, your baseline cannot be before 2021).
Focus on core operations: The primary target is to reduce emissions from your direct activities(Scope 1 & 2). This includes areas such as company vehicles and facilities, and purchased energy.
